Why we selected Nuxeo

Concena is focused on open source products and derivative packaged applications that help our customers address their many and varied enterprise document management requirements.

Three years ago, we selected Nuxeo as our enterprise document management solution of choice. There were three primary reasons for this decision:

  • First and foremost (then and now) is the concept of Nuxeo as a content platform. A platform that can be shaped, changed, embedded, customized in any number of creative ways to meet customer requirements. A platform built for extensibility, but always with a thought to ensuring that upgradability did not suffer as a side effect. The product developer in me liked this aspect from the very beginning!
  • The licensing type was critical for us and our customers. The Nuxeo LGPL license meant that derivative works could be created and licensed without the requirement to propagate open source licensing.
  • The people at Nuxeo, the ever-growing Nuxeo community, and the wide and varied implementations gave us the feeling of commitment, purpose, and direction that seemed lacking in other vendors!

Building on Nuxeo as the core document platform we created the Equipment Maintenance Assistant. Using our in-depth knowledge of Nuxeo, and leveraging our experience with the Google Web Toolkit (GWT), we have built a unique application that directly addresses a number of challenges with the lifecycle of servicable equipment.
